The word cybrary is a multifaceted and evolving term. In regards to the mission and vision of St. Agnes Academy – St. Dominic School, the term cybrary refers to the physical and virtual information collections and services provided to its students within, but not limited to, a physical space. The word cybrary represents a hybrid library, a concept that marries the physical library with the virtual library to create a new-age concept of library, technology and library services. The Cybrary at SAA-SDS is comprised of four integral components, the physical building and collection, the virtual collection, the professional library staff and the technology integrationists. These components work together to create an information center that offers students the opportunities to retrieve, evaluate and synthesize information in a way that is optimal to learning and achievement in a technological world. The services provided in the Cybrary encourage the development of skills that will produce an information literate community and promote lifelong learning.

WHAT IS A CYBRARY?

VERITAS RESEARCH CENTER AND CYBRARY

The Veritas Research Center is comprised of the Cybrary and the Department of Instructional Technology. The building includes the Cybrary, a distance learning center, a multimedia center, a cybercafe, the Senior Lounge, offices for technology staff and integrationists and the Upper School Dean, and eight classrooms.

The Cybrary at St. Agnes Academy-St. Dominic School supports the curricular and recreational research and reading needs of the school community, within the stated mission of the School. Cybrary mission includes supporting these needs and encouraging the development of independent thinking skills, information literacy, communication skills, and lifelong learning..
